Canine State of Mind farm is located in Jo Daviess County in northwest Illinois. A serene 60-acre landscape & home boasts a fully-equipped farm, private dog suites and two main outdoor areas with spacious expanses that give canines all the natural room they need to run, play and explore without being confined to a kennel for long periods of time.

7-8 AM - Wake up, breakfast and first outside time of the day

8-5 PM - Outside play time and inside nap time depending on the weather and the temperament and activity level of your dog.

5-6 PM - Dinner

6-10 PM - Play time or nap time.

10-11 - Last call for the bathroom before bed

It really depends on the traffic and construction. The average time is about two and a half to three hours.

Changing a dog’s diet can upset their stomach so please bring food that your dog is currently eating. Frozen or pre-prepared food is okay. If for some reason your dog runs out of food during their stay at CSM, we have plenty of very healthy food options that we can use to tide them over until they go home. You will see this included on your receipt at the end of your canine’s stay.

A specific packing checklist is provided in your welcome email for each program as some of the suggestions can differ slightly, but tend to include:

• Food and treats (with instructions)

• Medication and supplements (with instructions)

• Bedding (Optional)

• Collar/Leash

• Self Feeder Bowls (Optional and please label accordingly.)

Canine State of Mind offers and includes several transportation options within a well-oiled machine of pick-ups and drop-offs, so you can rest easy! We will do the transport for you.

We offer transportation services on Tuesdays and Thursdays only and ask that you make a window of a few hours available to offer flexibility for things like traffic, unexpected delays and logistical issues. We want to make this as seamless as possible, so we appreciate you working with us to offer more space in the process for the best experience possible.

Thankfully this has never happened at CSM (even with the major outbreak of dog influenza that hit Chicago in spring 2015). In the instance that your dog becomes ill or injured, we contact the owner immediately and seek veterinary care from our wonderful local vet

We only use clear, natural, canine communication, energetics and products. There’s absolutely no use of gimmicks, force or abuse tactics when we work with our canines. No “torture devices” or collars that go against a dog’s nature or is considered unnatural in the name of canine education.

No. This is purely a time for your dog to be in expert hands while you’re away. There is no educational component included in the Vacation Boarding Program, but we can upgrade your reservation for an additional fee from the Vacation Boarding Program to the Puppy or Adult Education Program if requested.

Please contact us for our pricing guide, but in general, we charge per night and per additional dog from the same household as well as for roundtrip transportation and surcharge for peak holiday stays. Food is not included in the cost, so please send them with the food they’ll need for their stay. The module videos range in length from 3-20 minutes long without adding in the workbook material, journaling content and meditation time, so we’d recommend dedicating a combined hour every week to start and to see how that goes.
